Mommy Can I…
…wear shorts to basketball practice when it’s 20 degrees outside?
…eat pizza after I’ve been sick and throwing up all day yesterday?
…not take a shower all week and finally take one on Saturday?
…go over to my friends house when I have homework, basketball practice and Scouts the same day?
…clean my room later?
…make my bed on the weekend?
These are all recents “Mommy Can I…” requests from Scoober. He’s quite a negotiator, but he’s too smart for his own good. His room is the biggest problem we have, oh and treating his sister like she’s old enough to roll around on the ground with, but she does instigate a lot of it sometimes. Why is he so loud? Is he deaf?

So, it’s been a rather quiet few months not hearing from HER, but I guess it had to come to an end sometime.
Not sure if I posted in Nov. or not, but EX sent letter requesting that Husband exchange financials with her, as they are court-ordered to do so. We, yes I helped him on this one, got this together within a week and sent it out before Thanksgiving.
We received a letter in December from EX stating that she just couldn’t get her information together before the end of the year, and that she would work on it after the New Year.
So, we wait, and wait, and it finally came in the mail on Friday. It was a very comical read to see how EX lives and what she feels is fair and her “right” because she has the kids all the time. By the way, that’s her choice, not my Husband’s.
Anyway, Husband did not want to sit on this because he was getting irritated and wanted to type out his response. It took up a lot of family time, which Husband hates, and so do I. Finally, he has a respectable response. I DID NOT help him write it, I helped him get the correct pay, taxes, and insurance numbers for his pay, but I only proofread and gave suggestions, which I’m pleased to say Husband took.
She’s just a nuisance and we both wish she would just grow up and be an adult. I guess she must feel that in her mind, she’s doing this for the kids, but really, she’s damaged them by not letting Husband be in their lives. She’s a control freak that is spiraling out of control and she’s grasping at ways to try to make Husband explode so that she can use it against him in court. But, as long as I’m around, it won’t happen.
We do owe her a bit of money for 2008 unreimbursed expenses for medical and dental visits, which we will pay shortly, as well.
It’s just so irritating to see that she is making over $80K a year, gets over $7K back in federal and state taxes last year, and she’s complaining that Husband needs to give the oldest child’s exemption to her so she can have more money because he doesn’t pay for their activities, school, etc. Husband sends monthly child support, which the court deemed appropriate and just, yet she still wants more.
I seriously doubt she will file for modification, I honestly think this was more a way she felt she could try to make Husband mad and to find out what our lifestyle was like. Hasn’t changed much, we still live pretty modest and frugally.
I’ll have to update when there is a verdict on her end. HA!
Well, I wasn’t able to get down to 170 before the end of 2008, and I’ve been on a plateau for the past couple of weeks, but I’ve finally gotten to 173 this week.
I honestly haven’t been making very good food choices, BUT I do keep to smaller portion sizes no matter what I’m eating, and I think that helps.
I’ve got to incorporate some sort of exercise; i.e. squats, leg lifts or something. It does no good to lose weight if you cannot tone your body afterwards. So, I’ll be working on that in the coming weeks.
After searching for a vest pattern and paying FULL PRICE for the pattern, I have mastered a true vest I think. Husband says he doesn’t like the neck part, but hey, it looks fine to me.

I’ve got 4 more to do for the rest of the boys in our den. Now, it doesn’t take me but about 20 minutes to sew it all. Takes about 5 minutes for ironing, and about 10 minutes for pinning. The cutting out of the fabric is what takes the longest. I cut out 6 vests the other night, and it took me about an hour.
Scoober is a Tiger Cub. Once a boy starts out in scouting, they have opportunities to earn patches; selling popcorn, pinewood derby, good turn week, etc. However, they cannot put these patches on their uniform.
The BSA decided to develop an acrylic felt-like vest that you cannot wash, but was heavy enough to sew the patches on. These vests get really dirty because the boys wear them to all their meetings, and if they are like my son, it ends up on the floor of their rooms.
So, a lady in Scoober’s Pack asked if I could get a pattern from her son’s vest and make one. So, I drew up the pattern and then I headed to search for fabric. I found some felt, but didn’t want to go that route again. These vests are bright red, and even though the lady had told me that another mother had used a cotton/poly blend, all that type of fabric was too thin. I finally settled for flannel to make my test vest.
After procrastinating, as my husband would say, I finally have a finished product. I’ve decided that I’m NOT going to charge as much as the BSA charges for their vests, which is $12.49, but charge for materials and my time.

So, you’ll have to let me know what you think! I already know areas of the sewing that I can improve on. For instance when I did the neck, I really should’ve gone a little over the shoulder to get a cleaner look. I also should’ve cut the arm openings in all one piece so there was no overlap. One more thing I should do is make sure the pieces that I cut to do the finished look are a little wider. When I sewed the middle and bottom, I should’ve folded over the edges so there wasn’t a rough edge underneath the vest.
Anyway, this one will be Scoober’s, as I cannot in good conscious sell this to the lady that requested it. I will get more fabric tomorrow for the 2 vests she wants, and I plan to sew 4 more for the boys in our Den as a gift at next month’s Blue/Gold Banquet.
